Tip: Portuguese pronunciation is tricky to start off with, but there is a logic and strict rules which help a lot. There are two very common sounds ‘sh’ and ‘sure’ (as in pleasure) -s at the end of a word is pronounced -sh, and j is pronounced -sure. E.g. desejos is pronounced dezeyshoosh (also showing you another very common feature of pronunciation -s followed by a vowel is pronounced z)
